Sole Rebel Tap's 'Every Grain', Dancin' Oxford. Pegasus Theatre. 1st March 2014.
March 1, 2014
Dancin’ Oxford 2014, launched in Oxford City Centre on Sat 1 March, premiering both emerging and well established companies. For the fourth year running, Moving with the Times, commissioned and produced by Pegasus Theatre, and Dancin’ Oxford featured Oxford based artists in something a little different with an audience full of excited giggling children, enjoying the matinée performance. In Every Grain, Hannah De Cancho’s company Sole Rebel Tap featured a group of glamorous 50s dancers who tore up the stage in tap shoes and playsuits. Fun and frolics by the sea were heightened with humorous sketches and a flurry of rhythms from the weighted, Lindy-hop style tap. Sole Rebel Tap bought the five show billing to a close by bringing the beach to the theatre (quite literally), with a charming tableau of six pairs of feet playing in the sand. How fabulous to watch such a cheeky tap show, a tap dancer at heart myself I have a particular interest works like this. I will be writing a full review of the evening, to be published very soon…
